ClinicalEvaluationof99mTc-RituximabforSentinelLymphNodeMappinginBreastCancerPatientsAbstract

Themetastaticstatusofsentinellymphnodes(SLNs)mightbethemostimportantprognosticfactorinbreastcancer.Inthispaper,wereporttoourknowledgethefirststudyof99mTc-rituximabasaradiotracerforimagingofSLNsusinglymphoscintigraphyinbothpreoperativeandintraoperativebreastcancerpatients.Methods:99mTc-rituximabwasdesignedasanSLNtracertargetingtheCD20antigen,whichexpressesextensivelyinLNs.Aretrospectivestudywasperformedon2,patientswithprimarybreastcancerwhounderwentlymphoscintigraphyandsentinellymphnodebiopsy(SLNB).Beforeimaging,allpatientswereadministeredapreoperativeperitumoralinjectionof37MBqof99mTc-rituximab.Results:99mTc-rituximabwassynthesizedinbothhighradiolabelingyieldandhighradiochemicalpurity(95%),withmolecularintegrityandimmuneactivitywellmaintained.TheinitialstudyofbreastcancerpatientsshowedthatthesuccessrateofSLNlymphoscintigraphybyinjectionof99mTc-rituximab,as
